Phuket is world famous for the crystal-clear, blue-green beaches and towering island formations that inspire Hollywood films and draw tremendous numbers of international visitors to this largest of Thai islands each year. But those looking for all-inclusive getaways will have to pay careful attention when choosing a resort here. In Thailand, and throughout most of Asia, “all-inclusive” doesn’t always quite include everything that it might in, say, the Caribbean. Some international brands still operate truly all-inclusive properties in Thailand, but many come with conditions, so it’s important to to do the research ahead of time.
These all-inclusive (or all-inclusive-optional) resorts are the best in Phuket.
A few minutes offshore from mainland Phuket, The Village – Coconut Island inhabits a secluded world of private villas and Jacuzzi suites on charming Coconut Island, initially discovered by shipwrecked explorers centuries ago. Those staying at least five nights can take advantage of the all-inclusive package including all meals and beverages from the resort’s restaurants and bars, as well as unlimited kayaking, sailing, mountain biking and day trips to neighboring Koh Rang Yai Island—a holiday island of water sports, hiking trails and a pearl farm.
Aleenta Phuket specializes in luxurious wellness at its Natai Beach property. Guests who book the all-inclusive package will enjoy not only a full day of SLOW (sustainable, local, organic, wellness) meals, fresh fruit juices and smoothies and complimentary minibar refills daily, but will also indulge in two free hours of spa services included with their stay. The private villas and secluded suites bordered by the sunset beach of the Andaman Sea make this one particularly perfect for romantic getaways.
Club Med was a pioneer of the all-inclusive resort industry and remains a top choice today, particularly for families looking for a hassle-free getaway. In addition to three meals and a premium open bar, Club Med Phuket offers unique activities like Thai boxing lessons and trapeze training alongside the snorkeling and scuba diving in the pristine waters for which Phuket and its neighboring islands are beloved. Club Med also has youth clubs at four different age levels catering to every young guest aged 4 months to 17 years.
Across the bay in Krabi, the Ritz-Carlton’s ultra-chic Phulay Bay property offers an inclusive package for travelers staying five or eight nights. While not traditionally all-inclusive in the Caribbean style (all-day drinking isn’t included), Phulay Bay, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve presents a more Thai version of inclusive accommodation that includes breakfast, multicourse dinners and daily sunset cocktails, as well as a one-hour massage treatment for each of two guests. It’s an added level of the already exquisite hospitality provided by one of the world’s leading luxury brands.
Ideally situated on Patong Beach, Novotel Phuket offers some of the best views on the island, and every room comes with a balcony for enjoying them. Stellar sea photographs can also be taken from every public space on the property, including each of the swimming pools in the property’s three-tiered network. The all-inclusive package here includes all meals, soft drinks, hot drinks and local alcoholic beverages. It also comes with a 20% discount for spa treatments.
Those looking for both easy access to bustling Patong and a tranquil escape will love Avista Hideaway’s secluded hilltop location just five minutes above the fun-loving town. Layered down the hillside at varying elevations, the boutique is designed as its own traditional Thai village, but comes complete with modern amenities including a fitness center and a well-appointed spa. The hotel is not openly all-inclusive, and you’ll have a hard time searching for an inclusive option online, but here’s the secret: If you contact the hotel directly and request an all-inclusive stay, they’ll arrange one for you.
