Celebrate Mother’s Day morning outside on the Lower East Side, at Public Kitchen’s brand new outdoor terrace, inspired by Tuileries garden in Paris. A special dish in honor of the holiday, a Steak and Eggs for Two which features a wood fire grilled- 32 oz prime bone-in ribeye, potatoes au gratin, six eggs any style, and chimichurri sauce, along with complimentary rosé for mom will be served along with classic brunch dishes like smoked salmon potato latkes, thick cinnamon-spiced brioche French Toast, and more, along with creative large format brunch cocktails.
Treat mom to feeling like an in-the-know foodies, at Avena’s newly opened Ristorante and Osteria, which will celebrate the special day with a three-course prix-fixe menu for $59 per person. Available at noon and throughout the day, the menu includes a starter, entrée, and dessert, with options including Vellutata di Asparagi Bianchi with asparagus veloute, Risotto Mare e Montu with wild mushroom risotto and langoustine, and Semifreddo all’Arancia Sanguigna with blood orange semifreddo and warm Italian meringue.
Take a family stroll though Bryant Park, and then fuel up at upscale Chinese cuisine at DaDong. The restaurant will be offering two special family-style menus for four to six guests, which come with DaDong “Su Bu Ni” roast duck, Wagyu beef fried rice, and a fruit platter for dessert. The Classic Family-Style Menu ($368) will also include dishes like young scallions and tofu salad, sweet and sour pork ribs, lotus root with glutinous rice, and more. The Premium Family-Style Menu ($578) will feature dishes like cherry foie gras, steamed Alaskan King crab, steamed pork and shrimp dumplings, and others. Both menus will be available at DaDong on Mother’s Day from 12 pm to 8 pm and the a la carte menu will also be offered.
If you and mom can’t make it out to Long Island wine country, do the next best thing in the West Village, where this rustic restaurant will be serving a Mother’s Day three-course prix-fixe menu for $59.99, including a side dish and cocktail (like a Pineapple Sage Mojito) or glass of wine. Menu options will include burrata with rum figs and hot honey, spicy mussels with white wine and coconut milk, Long Island duck with rainbow cauliflower and roasted beets, and local Atlantic Sea Bass with zesty mango salsa. For dessert, Chef Chris Fusaro will be whipping up a Kahlua cake, in honor of his grandmother, as well as a raspberry mousse.
Sushi-loving moms can get the luxe treatment at special early seatings at this high-end omakase and kaiseki restaurant in Union Square. A special five course tasting menu with a fifteen piece sushi progression, and complimentary glass of rose champagne will be offered for $250 per person, with seatings starting at 1 pm.
